4月26日 crunch munch The University of Chicago Divinity School each year invites one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center. One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich. Dr. Tillich spoke for two and one-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book.
He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, the religious tradition of the church was groundless mumbo-jumbo because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus who, in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions.
After about 30 seconds, an old, dark-skinned preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium.
"Doctah Tillich, I got one question," he said as all eyes turned to him. He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it. "Doctah Tillich...CRUNCH MUNCH...My question is a simple question...CRUNCH MUNCH...Now, I never read them books you read...CRUNCH MUNCH...and I can't recite the Scriptures in original Greek...CRUNCH MUNCH...I don't know nothin' about Niebuhr and Heidegger...CRUNCH MUNCH..." He finished the apple. "All I wanna know is , this apple I just ate, ---- was it sweet or sour?"
Dr. Tillich paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion. "I cannot possibly answer that question for I haven't tasted your apple."
The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, "Neither have you tasted my Jesus."
The 1,000 plus in attendance could not contain themselves. The audience erupted with applause and cheers. Dr. Tillich promptly thanked his audience and left the platform!

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him" (Psalm 34:8)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4月22日 I am starting !! WOOHOOWell, here I am starting my blog...I have been reading Carolynn's since she was highlighted a year ago, always admired her, and now have finally gotten the incentive to do my own!
Who am I? First of all, I am a Christian...and a single mom raising three awesome kids...I am also the mom of 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 fish, and 1 guinea pig. I get along great with my ex, although at some point I will share why he is my EX... So, I have Colin who is 18, Rosemary (aka Roey) who is almost 13, and Cuyler who turned 10 yesterday!
I love God first and foremost, nothing else matters before Him...and when HE is exalted, the rest falls into place (not always the way I want it to, but believe me, it falls in place the best way). I cannot imagine that He gave His Son to shoulder our sins, to take them upon himself as the ultimate sacrifice for all time...
Who are we to deserve that? We are the children of a loving God.
So what else? I love to sing ! I am part of our Praise team at church http://www.pembrokeassemblyofgod.org and I have also sung at weddings, have done lots of musical theater, and studied voice for a few years.
I also enjoy cooking -- gimme a complicated 6 course meal and I will master it -- ask me to boil rice? Um, is there a recipe for that? Let's see, I think I can make ice...
I went to college to become a writer...of blogs? Well, no... but I did get separated out from the rest of the writing students, by the head of the Creative Writing Dept, to do an independent study for two years...I got to do all sorts of graduate courses...it was really cool. I do love to write, but I am afraid lately it is to write emails, and also to devise memo's for work...("We LOVE your notes! They are SO creative") So I do not know why I work for the Phone Company, but I am grateful to be there, grateful for my friends there, grateful for the benefits, the pay, and my job in general.
Do I have a man in my life? Who asked that? Not currently, no. I would like to, but he must be a Christian. I guess that's why I am such a fan of Christian Cafe. My best friend is a guy, he's awesome...his name is James...he is funny, intelligent, and able to understand me in a way no one else has before...plus he's a single dad raising 4 kids...with an inferior carpet cleaner compared to mine. We are really able to share a lot about life with each other.
My family -- well, it includes my three kids...my pets...I have wonderful nieces that I am in touch with...Kim, Taty, and Priscilla really make me feel loved...most of my family has passed away -- my Mum, my Daddy, my sister Wendy, my brother Barry -- they are all gone. I do have a brother, Bobby, in Las Vegas. So those that I call family are really my friends and my church family...Katie B., Katie S. (why did they both marry "Tim") -- Kim M., Mark H., Jeff D., Jen N., Renee R., Karen B., Marci M., Tara T., Sue D., ...these are very special people in my life. Friends from CC include Flashy and Ernie.
Here I would like to add a note about a friend of mine, Roger, in Laval, QB... He is a drug addict who has backslidden...he is very blessed to even be alive...I ask for prayers for him because he feels as though he is in a nightmare he can't wake up from...Please, pray for his recovery and permanent healing.
Well, I believe I am off to a good start...I will blog more so you can get to know me and my family and friends more !!!
